At the end of World War II countless lives had been uprooted, vast numbers of people were homeless and looking for new places to live.
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear displaced persons in context to post WWII is the foundation of Israel. The event that stands out to me is the foundation of the nation of Israel in then Palestine by the ethnic Jews in 1947. For the terrible crimes that they suffered during the pre-war and war years they were given the land around Jerusalem by the United Nations. This sparked conflict between Israel and the surrounding Islamic countries that has continued to this day.
