After Wold War 2 every nation had to deal with racism and hatred for other genders. Countries were divided such as Pakistan and Israel and to this day is a big controversy. Because we are Americans we know of the racism that races such as African Americans, Jews and Asians had to endure but we neglect to learn about how other races on the Eastern Hemisphere dealt with their problems.
Pre-ww2 race was a problem in Germany in particular Hitler wanted a nation of only Germans and with his final solution project he had come close to achieving. Post ww2 it was not hard to see why Jews wanted to leave and set up their own state: Israel. According to in Gerard Cohen, In War’s Wake, ch 5 Surplus Manpower, Surplus Population Cohen states that the creation of Israel lead to the Palestinian refugee problem. The racial tension was high but after the force creation of Israel the tension increased. The Jews did not only had to deal with that but countries were trying to figure out where to “stick” this massive group. Cohen mentions that there was talk of President of Warner Brothers suggested placing them in Alaska and Latin American countries should also take in Jews. A French official asked a group of Jews were they wanted to go and quoted “one of the DP’s (displaced persons) sttod up and declared that everybody wanted to go to Palestine.”
Because of Hitler enslaving blacks was back in play and did not help racial tensions in Western Europe post WW2. British Quaker Grigor McClelland stated “the transshipment of Africans to work as slaves in American plantations.” That is the comparison of how many Africans were enslaved during the war.
